Frequently Asked Question

ClearLogos
Last Updated 2 years ago

Basic Characteristics

  • Dimensions: 800x310 pixels
  • Initial upload can only be png as only .pngs can have transparency.
  • The initial upload needs to be at least the dimensions listed above. This is an attempt to force higher quality.
  • Max upload size is now 10MB, but post-crop the file size will be aligned with our current images.
  • Available on: series and movies

Guidelines

Due to the fact that ClearLogos contain transparency, there are more stringent requirements in place than there are for other artwork types.

Mandatory Elements

  • ClearLogos include the logo of a series, with a transparent background and no additional text. They should be authentic to the original logo whenever possible,
  • Translated logos should either use an officially translated logo or be visually similar to the official logo.
  • ClearLogos should be center-aligned both vertically and horizontally with a 10px gutter.
    • This means that the logo part of the image should be a maximum of 780px by 290px — and you should always fill as much of these dimensions as possible with the logo.
  • Any drop shadow or outer glow can go into the gutter, but the actual logo image may not.
  • ClearLogos should be visible on all kinds of backgrounds.
    • A lighter color (not white) version of a logo is more popular and therefore preferred.
    • A drop shadow, outline or outer glow can be used to make the logo visible on all background types
  • Logos must be centered in the image

Reasons for Deletion

  • Jagged edges on the logo
  • The wrong size, either the gutter is being used or the image leaves too much white space.
    • While not all logos are rectangular the logo should fill either the horizontal or vertical space without being stretched
  • Not visible on all backgrounds, a pure white or pure black image would not be visible on the opposite colour
  • The drop shadow or glow is cut off on one of the edges
  • Logo is blurry

Not Visible on All Backgrounds

The two images below appear largely identical but when placed on a background of similar color one image is invisible.  (Note: An dark grey background is to distinguish the image)

On the White image, you can clearly see how a drop shadow makes it visible on an all-white background. (Note: An offwhite background is to distinguish the image)

Wrong Size, Distorted or Poor Uses of Space

Blurry

Blurry images are often the result of stretching a smaller image or a poor job of removing background color. The image on the left initially appears okay but on an image with finer details, this would result in a poor image.  The image on the right has the blurry image on the left and a clearer high-resolution image on the right. (Note there is no outline on these images to better highlight the blurriness.)
